ITT Exelis opens new facility in SLC | Business

SALT LAKE CITY - The expansion of a Utah company aims to bring hundreds of new jobs to the state.

Governor Gary Herbert and Congressman Jim Matheson attended the grand opening of the ITT Exelis electronics, new composites and integrated structures facility on Tuesday.

There is soaring demand for composite materials used in commercial and military aircraft.

"I happen to think our state has such a great workforce and a great attitude and a great set of business ethics and I appreciate Exelis's commitment to come here and be apart of the Utah community with this significant event," said Matheson.

The expansion has already created hundreds of highly-skilled jobs and is on track to create more in the coming years.
